How I Onboard Clients for Design or Web Projects

Managing my time between my studies and a running a design and web development firm has sharpened my appreciation for a well-organized client onboarding process. Any new clients reaching out to me will either need a website, branding or a digital design overhaul. In all scenarios, I make it a point to maintain a friendly tone and a warm atmosphere throughout the entire process. My first step after receiving their requirements and goals is to send them a professional welcome kit that contains a project brief, timeline, a contract, payment terms, and any other relevant documents. Additionally, I provide an overview of the different phases of my creative process so that they are fully briefed. Notion or Trello are my go-to tools for collaboration, and to build rapport and trust I always schedule a warm kickoff call to discuss project details. As a student, I make it a point to communicate my availability and structure to most clients, which they appreciate. This blend improves project delivery and smoothens the onboarding process enhancing first impressions. This is highly commendable since first time clients are usually turned into long term partners through these methods.
